Skid steers are versatile, compact machines used for a variety of tasks in construction, landscaping, agriculture, and other industries. There are two primary types of skid steers based on their drive mechanisms:
Wheeled Skid Steers: These skid steers are equipped with four wheels, similar to a small vehicle. They use a skid steer mechanism for steering, where the wheels on one side of the machine can be driven at different speeds or stopped completely, allowing the machine to turn on the spot. Wheeled skid steers are well-suited for tasks on stable and firm surfaces.
Tracked Skid Steers (Compact Track Loaders): These skid steers have tracks instead of wheels, similar to a mini-excavator. Tracked skid steers provide better traction and flotation on soft, uneven, or muddy terrain compared to wheeled skid steers. They are often used in applications where ground conditions are less stable or more challenging.
